Plain light purple background. In the center, a person stands with one arm extended to the side and the other slightly raised. Behind them, other figures overlap translucently, one with their legs lifted in the air and two with their arms extended sideways. The silhouettes intersect and are distinguished by different colors.

Rathausmarkt

On 20 June 2026, Rathausmarkt will become a stage for dance, encounter, and lived democracy: as part of Hamburg’s longest table for democracy, diversity, and social cohesion, the Tanztriennale is cooperating with Hamburger Stiftungstage.

The Tanztriennale invites dance makers and audiences alike to experience dance not only as a performing art, but as a social practice - as a language of coming together, participation, and exchange across cultural, social, and generational boundaries. This approach directly connects the Tanztriennale with the goals of the Hamburger Stiftungstage and Hamburg’s longest table: to make democracy, diversity, and social cohesion visible and tangible. Dance thus becomes a medium that sets people in motion - both literally and figuratively.

What visitors can expect on site: The Tanztriennale invites all dance enthusiasts to explore and try out different dance styles and techniques together as part of its All Moves format. This will be followed by choreographic interventions. Watching, participating, and sharing the experience merge seamlessly into one another.
