The Tanztriennale creates spaces where dance can be shared, experienced, and explored throughout the city. Everyone who loves to dance is invited to join the City Parade or take part in our participatory performance projects.
The Tanztriennale kicks-off with a City Parade! Dance and music groups are invited to join the parade to celebrate the diversity and power of dance to bring people together.

Dance is part of everyday life. Iin studios and sports halls, in clubs, schoolyards, parks and backyards, at neighbourhood and family festivals, and across digital spaces and social media. Dance connects, celebrates, resists, empowers.
The first Tanztriennale in Hamburg opens with a City Parade dedicated to dance and to the people of this city. We are inviting dance and music groups to create shared moments of choreography, rhythm and movement along the route. The parade brings together different dance cultures, music, generations and communities - setting our motto “Brave Moves. Courageous Joy.” into motion.
When: Sunday, June 14, 2026, 14.00 h
Start: Museum der Arbeit, End: Stadtpark Hamburg
We are looking for: Dance groups of around 8 to 10 and up to 50 participants and music groups of all styles and sizes
Associations, self-organised communities, ensembles and companies are welcome - across all styles, from Hip-Hop and Ballet to Folk Dance, Contemporary, Breaking, Capoeira, Tango, Voguing, Salsa, Samba, Dabke or Fusion. Anything that can move joyfully through the city is welcome.
We are also looking for musicians and bands of any style who can carry the rhythm and shape the sound of the parade.

For the dance performance “A Human Song” by Italian choreographer Chiara Frigo, we are looking for people of all ages who enjoy movement, starting from age 16 years
What is it about?
“A Human Song” is a large-scale participatory art project in which 30 to 50 people of different ages, cultures, and backgrounds are invited to participate. This poetic event explores the power of the body: a sea of people moving through the meditative act of walking and running together, supporting and accompanying one another, lying down on the ground, rebelling, and rising again.
Participation includes two online-meetings, a multi-day workshop, and two performances at the Kunsthalle as part of the Tanztriennale. Participation requires attendance at all scheduled sessions.

The performance lasts 60 minutes. The performances will take place outdoors on the Kunsthalle platform (Glockengießerwall 5, 20095 Hamburg). Communication with the company and in rehearsals and workshops will be in English.
How can you join us?
No prior experience is required to participate; all you need is a willingness to participate, connect with people and make an artistic piece together. Participation is voluntary and not a paid position. For rehearsals, you’ll need comfortable clothing and clean sneakers.

We are looking for dedicated volunteers (m/f/d)
What to expect?
As a volunteer, you will actively help ensure that everyone involved feels well-supported and informed. You will assist with the following tasks:
Supervising backstage or audience areas
Admission and ticketing
Guiding and assisting the audience during public performances
Supporting artists and dance groups on-site
Small tasks in the hospitality area, such as purchases or short-notice trips
In our registration form, you can indicate which tasks interest you most. We’ll do our best to accommodate your preferences and find a role that suits you.
We will schedule you in shifts of 4 to a maximum of 8 hours per day. Please let us know in the registration form which days and times you are available. You will receive the final schedule in good time.

- Good German or English skills (other languages are welcome)
